Rural broadband

As the government puts £530m towards trialling superfast broadband in four areas of the UK, many rural areas continue to suffer from continually slow broadband speed.

As BT Plc is such a large organisation, they have split into several companies. BT Openreach manage much of their network, and provide access to companies like BT Retail and TalkTalk. It isn't commercially viable for BT Openreach to provide fast broadband to rural areas, as the population size doesn't justify the investment.

Progress in Aberystwyth?

Since September 2010 we've been pressuring BT to improve broadband internet speeds in Aberystwyth, with many residents receiving just 0.1Mbps. See how we're getting on.

What's the solution?

While BT doesn't want to focus on rural communities, local telecom companies can. By working with local communities, businesses and investors, we aim to bring superfast broadband to those areas that aren't being supported by BT.

The form below allows you to quickly submit your details to our database, and build up a list of areas where broadband issues need to be resolved.

By encouraging other local people to complete this form, you will help to promote your area. The more enquiries we get, the more priority we can give to your area.
